Who we are
To be a good dog trainer you need to be continually learning and that is something we never stop doing at TDC. We are constantly attending workshops, seminars, and clinics on new techniques on the best way to train dogs. We listen to training podcasts in our free time, shadow other trainers, and read the newest scientific articles. However, the best way to learn is hands-on and luckily we have had our hands on hundreds of dogs. Every dog is different and can not be trained using the same methodology, but dogs can be trained using the same ideals. Dogs need clarity, consistency, and to be trained fairly.
Head Trainer Gretchen
I am an Animal Science graduate from Clemson University, a full-time dog trainer, and an AKC evaluator.
I was born and raised in Illinois but moved to South Carolina to attend Clemson University, where I graduated with an animal science degree. While in Illinois I ran a successful boarding and daycare business and was active with several local shelters. I successfully helped re-home well over fifty shelter dogs so far in Illinois and South Carolina. I also worked as a vet assistant for two years and have worked under several Veterinarians.
I have experience training and/or titling dogs in Agility, Rally Obedience, IGP(Schutzhund), WDA(Working Dogs of America), PSA(Protection Sports of America), FastCAT, Coursing, Barn Hunt, Trick dog titles, and AKC and UKC conformation. My dogs combined have over one hundred titles.
In addition to training, we breed AKC English Labrador Retrievers and Working Protection Doberman Pinchers. We go above and beyond to make sure our dogs are health tested to the Orthopedic Foundation of Animals (OFA) standards and meet temperament and titling evaluations.
